Huge black jumping bugs

(Zone 6a)

Hello! I am looking for help to identify and find a weapon against these huge black jumping something I got in my house. They started in the basement, but alredy moved upstairs. As I understand, they are harmless, but I am still terrified and I absolutely hate everything that big and jumpy. Okey, they have 0.5 inch black body and 2" long legs - 6 of them, and a very long "antennas" (is it how you call it?) on the head. They walk (croll) or jump for almost 1 feet. Any ideas what is it and how to get rid of them???
Thank you.

Sure sounds like Moda127's got this nailed down. I have them too, and I use a product called X-O-Trol flea and tick fogger to control them. I set it off when I go to work, and the problem is solved by the time I get home in the evening.

I've never seen a cricket like that. Looks like part grasshopper! Here's the wierdest one we have down here in FL (a mole cricket): http://insects.tamu.edu/extension/youth/bug/bug012.html

It doesn't even look much like a cricket to me. Found our very first one when we bought a house. It was crawling around in the carpet. ISH!
