Documents are cut off on the left edge

I just began using a HP882C printer after my HP722 quit. In appearance it looks exactly the same- but every document I print is lacking about one letter at the left edge. I have gone into every option I can find, and just don't find any place to adjust any margins- Of course if I went into a word processor I could change margins- but if I want to print an email it is a big hassle! I am using XP with all the updates- Can anyone help me? Thanks- Jo
