Help! There are a bunch of very old, overgrown foundations plantings around my house and I don't know how to prune them. I am thinking that I would like to decrease their size by 1/3 or even 1/2 in some cases. The boxwoods are in the worst shape. The trunks/stems have gotten very numerous and some of them are quite large. I was thinking of trying to thin them by cutting out every third one with a pruning saw. But I don't really want to kill them by mistake. Does anyone have experience with this type of situation.
Thanks,
