Is making your own pots economical?

Buffalo, NY

I've been hearing more and more about making your own pots out of hyertufa and concrete.
How much does this end up costing? How much do the molds/supplies cost?

How do I get to those forums? I don't see them listed under "GardenTalk." Am I missing something?

Click the Home Talk tab up top..... concrete is cheap, an eighty pound bag is less than ten bucks

Hi heebiejeebie

Concrete pots are very CHEAP to make.
Hypertufa even cheaper. But remember that over time the peat moss you use will decay making the pot weaker.
A better choice for light weight concrete is vermiculite or perlite.
This pot cost less than $3 bucks in materials.
