Welcome to DG, caganimalover!

In a nutshell, a round robin (RR) is a gift, seed, and/or bulb exchange.

There are a few styles of round robins --

Exchanges/Swaps - two methods:
- The organizer sets everyone up in pairs. You send a package to a specific person; a specific person sends to you.
- Everyone sends a package to the organizer, the organizer does the swapping and sends all participants a package back.

Traveling
- A list of participants is made and a package travels in the order of participants. These packages start with an organizer, travel all over the country, and then end with the organizer. Each participant takes out items and adds items of equal value* prior to sending it to the next person. Traveling RRs almost always require flat-rate shipping box plus delivery confirmation.

*For example, take out 4 seed packs, put in 4 seed packs; handmade goods for handmade goods; dollar store items for dollar store items; multiple lower-value items for single higher-value item.

Themes vary. Some are just envelopes of seeds; others are gift exchanges or holiday themes.

Each RR has its own set of rules, which are indicated in the robin thread.

They are a good way to get to know others and provide surprise gifts in the mail.

All are fun when everyone involved follows the rules.

IMHO, people shouldn't sign up for the traveling RRs if they have a problem getting boxes back to the post office. Not following the rules can be very disappointing to others still on the list, especially the list organizer who puts time and money into the initial box.
