Another year with flower buds on my B. insignis but I never was lucky to see the actual flowers. :-( The buds always abort. I guess it's too dark in the fall and winter in this part of the world. Any experiences with flowering of the B. insignis in cooler regions?

Thanx to y'all I am now drooling over "Fat plants" - I so do not have room for these guys but am looking for a vendor that actually have some that can be bought without completely putting me in the poorhouse! I see from other threads it can be done - some enabler we won't mention posted some really good links!

That is awesome! They are definitely hard to find.
Here's a source which has them for sale: http://www.dragonagro.com/ They're in New Jersey. Click on "Crown of Thorns" and it will take you to the Brighamia, among other plants. Don't ask - I have no idea why this is this way. eBay has sometimes had them for sale, but there are none right now.
Becky, I hate to tell you, but Brighamias are considered "fat plants" too! HEHEHEHE If you can get seeds, here's the info you need to grow them:

I have a Brighamia insignis for many years now and I would like to know too how to get it to flower.
I have let it go dormant in some years, in others I kept it warm and green, so far no luck. It is always in bright light, in Summer in full sun.
Perhaps we need to move to Hawai?
Btw regarding the Dragon Agro link - if one happens to live in the area, he has a booth every year at the Philadelphia Flower show.
RUK, I know someone in Berlin having a flowering B. insignis. He lets it go dormant in winter and it flowers in late spring.
