ok i need a yaking thread.....

Bay City, MI(Zone 6a)

Well since my tigers couldnt find their ROAR and let a team they beat during the regular season -beat them
I guess we will have to yak about other stuff. SO................

Today its cold and rainny out-Daymeins last football game was canceled until next week. I guess they think it may warm up! lol
I just planted a bunch of daylily seeds in the basement-they were sprouted in their packages so I got them started a lil earlier than I usually do. I will be sorting and planting more as time goes on

John Mellencamp sang Our Country at the MSU/Indiana game today-omg i luv him!!! This is a hard game for me to pick a favorite-love both teams! but MSU is from Michigan

What is everyone else up too?

Hey NotMartha! This is Pickleluv from Ypsilanti, Michigan, close to Ann Arbor. You gotta root for Michigan!! This a rainy, coooold day today. I wanted to plant tulip bulbs today(almost waited to late) but hopefully I can in the next few days. I guess I'll have to do housework instead. I't sure is a good day to sleep in, though. Tis my first time on this thread. Am on the Prayer request thread for my mom. She is in the last stages of Alzhiemers. It's a terrible desease!!! Gardening and home canning takes my mind off of it for a little while, but can't do that today, so I guess it' housework today. catch you later. Pickleluv

Bay City, MI(Zone 6a)

Hey there pickleluv welcome to the michigan forum!!! :) I think i have everything planted till spring-still hoping for indian summer so i can check and make sure! Im cheering for Michigan but its hard to beat the team and the ref's. We are getting spanked now!

I will add your mom to my prayer list. I understand where you are at, my mom died in my arms and they were never sure what she had. We think it was to much antistia(sp)at the time of a elective surgery that fried her brain and she slowly(4yrs)went down hill. It was very hard to watch that happen to someone that was in perfect health and operated a foster care home before she went in and then could have been a patient in that home!!! So if you ever need to talk-just send me a dmail or something!

Gardening is very helpful for many reasons!-My gardens seem to get bigger and bigger too ;)
Do you have somewhere to grow seeds during the winter-I can send you some daylily seeds-these are
never before seen-my son and i did all the pollinating :)

I have made those garden gem balls out of bowling balls during the LONG cold Michigan winters
I may have to make a few more!!!

OMG do you hear all the MELLENCAMP music they are playing on the game-luv it simply luv it!

Hey everyone...I usually hang out in 'coffee', but I'll be here too!! I'm hosting a 17 person get together tomorrow for my folks who will be leaving for Fla the first of November. Everything is all set, except I came down with an awful cold. I'm trying not to sniffle and sneeze over everything. So far I've told DH he has to do the cooking as I don't want to spread my germs- he fell for it!!

Windier than the dickens here - leave are sailing thru the air. As soon as the ground dries up a bit we need to go bag them for the compost pile.

I've all my dahlias dug and packaged up and my brugs in the house for the winter. My greenhouse is a pig sty tho and I need to get out there and straighten things up.

Well, time for some munchies...

Ypsilanti, MI(Zone 5b)

You bet I'm brain washed! I'll always root for Michigan, then MSU!! Hey Sarv48, I know how tired you must be, plus not feeling well. Over the summer we had a family picnic here for 38. What a busy time. NM, your daylilies look HUGE! I hope I will have as good as luck with mine next year as you have with yours. Is there anything special you do when planting them? I've got to go start supper. Take care everybody. Try not to blow away! Pickleluv

Bay City, MI(Zone 6a)

i always root for MSU then Michigan
It sure was windy here-no taking the front yard cuz the leaves have blown away!
Today the sun is out and feels warm on my arm! I wont be going out to enjoy it though-I have to drink a gallon of that "go lightly" and then go go go-i have my test tomorrow so most likely wont be on. wish me luck

daylilies are very easy to grow even from seed!

Welcome to the Michigan forum pickleluv. I take care of my 90 year old mother who has Alzhiemers. Right now she is in Tendercare nursing home getting therapy. She fell and fractured her femur pretty badly. While she's gone my son who is a plumber gutting my bathroom and re-doing it. He's putting in a handicapped shower so it will be easier for me to take care of Mom when she comes home. What a mess. The house is tore up. I know it will be nice when it's done though. I hope she can come home before Thanksgiving. I miss her. My husband is on the road and only home on weekends.

I'm so sorry the Tigers lost the series. Maybe next year?? Hubby has been on vacation the last week helping me get all the fall chores done. We got the chopped up leaves and grass clippings put down on the vegetable garden and he tilled it all under. The perennials were all cut down. I had left the monkshood which is still blooming and beautiful. It's very windy here. My windmill is going about a million miles an hour. It runs an aereator for the fish in the pond. I bet they are getting lots of oxygen. Ha!

I'm hoping we get a few more warm nice days before winter hits. It's hard to tell what the weather will be these days.

Dori, good luck with your test. I had to drink that junk. That was the worst part of the test. I did have some polyps removed but they were not cancer. I hope everything turns out good for you.

Pearl River, LA

Here is a peek at the motor-chevy orange, I just won some used mickey tompson valve covers off ebay last night so we will have to open that back up and replace with the MT's when they arrive!

good morning and happy November-good bye October!! Im glad to see that month behind me! Now lets getting heading for spring! I have daylily catalogs arriving already! But thats something to drool over this winter.

Yesterday I went out and picked a box of green tomatoes and all the hot peppers i had left-not sure how long it will take them to ripen or if they even will-but its worth a shot-I had some huge ones that had been hit by the frost!
darn cold this morning too.

Well i have to take MIL to the hospital-her turn to make a butt movie! lol

Glad everything went ok Dori. I had same procedure in February so I'm good to go for another 5 years. LOL

Bay City, MI(Zone 6a)

My dad had colon cancer and my baby sister had polyups when she was in 5th grade-so now im good for 5yrs too! lol

here is my lil zander n big sis elizabeth last night-Zander and gramma had a riot after they dropped him off and the rest of them went back out for more candy, It sure got cold around 7:30 here and they stayed out till 8pm. Its really cold today too! brrr

Thumbnail by notmartha
La Salle, MI(Zone 5b)

awww how cute Dori,

Isn't it amazing how the cold doesn't seem to bother the kids, I remember when I was a kid and would stay out and play in the snow til I couldn't feel anything, until I started to thaw out and then it burned, but I'd be right back out there again the next day rofl...

south of Grand Rapid, MI(Zone 5a)

Not one single T or Ter here - but that's ok.... think of all the candy I can enjoy now!! The houses in our neighborhood are quite far apart and no one has little ones anymore. It seems like more of the churches are hosting gatherings. I saw one that had the congregation come to the church parking lot and open their trunks and let the kids trick/treat around the parking lot. At least it didn't rain!!

Sun is out here with little whispy clouds. They are saying snow tomorow. Our trees still have the majority of their leaves on, so we'll be mowing for another couple of weeks. We worked for 2 hrs gathering up the leaves last night and dumping them in the garden. Ahh, little bit of gold for next years plantings.

Off to hit the shower and then taking MIL into the doc...not my favorite thing to do

Bay City, MI(Zone 6a)

connie I use to play all day long out there and come in warm up get dry gloves and head back out-Now you have a tough time getting me to run from the house to the car when its cold! I sit on the heater all winter waiting for a sign of spring. I was just saying maybe since its been cold early this fall that we will get a WARM early spring that last right into summer.

I guess I need to start on my house-costumes and candy everywhere and then the normal stuff and the stuff ive but off all summer and........I will check in time to time!

pssssssssssssst
WHERE IS EVERYONE-MICHIGANDERS WHERE ARE YOU????

I cant see you.............

Thumbnail by notmartha
La Salle, MI(Zone 5b)

I know Dori, I wouldn't even bother with going back in to warm up, only did it cause mom made me lol, Oh I hear ya about sitting on the heater, I freeze and dh burns up, we fight constantly over the the temps, that's why have my own little space heater lol, yes it would be nice to have an early spring and summer... Our weather is sooo unpredictable. Well you have fun cleaning up, got to do the same here, I have been working on it since Sunday, I also will check in from time to time.

You got some beautiful little ones :o)

La Salle, MI(Zone 5b)

I had to go over to my dads this afternoon and get rid of 12 trojans off my great neices PC before he takes it back to her, well I got them quarantined any way... Couldn't do to much until she can connect it to the internet... Now she can finish what I started lol...
I installed the AVG and a spyware removal.... And oh the nasty porn pics she had loaded in her pic file. Deleted everyone of them, And if she goes back to those nasty sites again, she will have more trojans on her PC again, Good thing I couldn't get my hands on her, cause I would have probably strangled her!!! KIDS. Shes under 17 and fixing to have her second child...
It was 44 when I came home from my dads, and it's suppose to get down to 22 tonight here... :( I am not ready for COLDER weather... brrrrr even with a heating pad rofl...

Lincoln Park, MI(Zone 5a)

Nice and sunny here..............Time to rake more leaves to add to the compost pile....I gave up on my worm bins.....to much trouble in winter time...!!

south of Grand Rapid, MI(Zone 5a)

Been out in the great outdoors all day long!! Sure seemed good - I was becoming quite a couch potato! Dug up my cannas< glads phew>>>>what a lot of work!!

DH has been mowing up the leaves and dumping them in the garden. My entire garden is covered with chopped up leaves. We're skipping the compost pile again and dumping them right in the garden. Did it last year and then in the spring we rototill them in with the huge rototiller. Worked slick. The only problem is that I don't have enough compost to top dress all my beds. Oh well, something has to give.

Sky is getting brighter....dare I say 'sun'

south of Grand Rapid, MI(Zone 5a)

SUN IS OUT!! Yahoo - fall has arrived!! We're getting the last minute stuff in from the gardens - pots, cement stuff etc. I may chop down some of my perennials, but then again, I may not!! I just want to be outside soaking up the sun!!

Our local garden center has all their bulbs for 50% off....please don't let me go there.....
