AVG anti-virus program

Has anyone here on DG used AVG for their main anti-virus program?

Am tired of Norton which I have used for years but it is starting to hog my computers, both at home and work.
Want to know if the free version of the AVG is worth it, safe, and catches the bad guys???

Please post your good and bad comments on this software.
