Finger weaving?

I am trying my hand at finger weaving! Im supposed to do this on a 6" wooden dowel on my lap, but I decided to try and use my old wooden clothes hanger!
Does anyone else do this and do you have patterns for sashes? It is a Native American art that I am trying to learn and I am particularly interested in any Creek , Cherokee, and Choctaw patterns!
