White on my cuke & zucchini leaves

Melbourne Beach, FL(Zone 10a)

Are there any Florida gardeners over here that may have this problem now? Or anyone from anywhere who has had it in their summer garden? I'm just trying these out for the first time in my fall veggie garden so I have no experience with them. Both seem to have white on their leaves. It's kind of blended right onto the leaf. I don't really see a bug or anything. What is it? Some other veggies have taken me a season or two to figure out what they're susecptible to so I know how to handle them. I sure hope I don't lose these guys!! All advice appreciated! -- Vicky

Powdery Mildew
http://vegetablemdonline.ppath.cornell.edu/factsheets/Cucurbits_PM.htm It can controlled with a wide array of fungicides, including home remedies like baking soda and powdered milk. Look through some of the earlier threads for recipes.

Thanks farmer -- I thought it might be some sort of fungus. How do you use the baking soda? I've never heard of that one before.

Dill is right as usual and especially make sure you use the soap is is a sticker to help the solution stick to the plants better. Ernie
