had no idea there were so many kinds of milkweed. Thought milkweed was milkweed. LOL

Hi Petralittledog...

I posted similar messages in most of the regional forums on here, and got very similar responses! :) I didn't know there were either, until recently... but there are about 70 nationwide, if you can believe! Some of them are quite different than the common pink/purple type. Some are totally white, others have pine-needle-thin leaves, and so on... pretty amazing! Thanks for the reply!
God bless,
Jeff

WOW! How interesting. I did learn a few years ago that one vine we have growing wild around here is a climbing or vining milkweed. Until then I only knew one kind. You have posted some interesting requests. I hope you find some.

Hello85~ I just visited a farm in Lawrence that had a butterfly garden full of milkweeds. Gosh if I only knew there would be be such a request, I would have requested permission to borrow some for the next generation of butterflies in MI. Seriously, didn't know there were so many different types. Thanks for sharing the info

Wow, thanks for the info on so many types. I only thought there were 3 or 4 kinds! Sorry I have no info for you.

I have palnted several of these already but grow 50 or so (Asclepias viridis) green antelopehorn here in the beds each year. If you will Dmail me in Fall I know I will have you some fresh seeds and maybe we can swap for another on your list?

cool web site MaryinLa -- I was given "Scarlet" seeds... can't wait to see them grow.

MaryinLa, loved the link. So many beautiful colors to chose from. I found some of the yellow seeds when I went thru my packets the other day. I set them with the grow pile!

I love butterflies but do NOT like the larvae stage so a butterfly garden isn't something I am interesting in fostering but I do love to see those gardens because they are so colorful. And the various butterflies are beautiful.
