Here's another one for you:

Jeri, you and me both, thanks to Marilyn- lol. Love those fat bellies, Marilyn. I just want to rub the one on my Buddhas belly plant, you know, so round and now that it's bald, it looks so funny it's just begging to be rubbed.

And there is someone on eBay selling caudiciform pelargoniums, if I find the link, I'll post it. Weird-looking plants.

West Orange, NJ(Zone 6a)

Found it. Seller is TeeDeeCacti:

You are buying precisely the depicted plant on that page. Their non-specimens /see catalog are now sold on e-bay.
Also, the plant pictures are fun for browsing and learning.

West Orange, NJ(Zone 6a)

Their specimen prices are very high though. And why can't they just put a link to their eBay offerings instead of telling you to search for them? Seems an easy thing to do.

West Orange, NJ(Zone 6a)

Here's the link to their eBay offerings:

I agree - they are not cheap. But once in a while one might spring for perhaps one of those as a really special treat. Yes, definitely not to buy from in bulk.
I did pick up a few nice larger plants a few years ago from their occasional specimen sale at Shoalcreeksucculents

West Orange, NJ(Zone 6a)

Those are very nice, tempted to buy the A. somalense.

Here's a wonderful site to look at all kinds of caudiciforms, including Pelargoniums:

Weelllllll, let's seeeee............ what other websites can I give you? Oh, I know - there's a great one on Adeniums, including care info. It was put together by a guy from the West Indies as well as by one of the preeminent American hybridizers, Mark Dimmitt, who is with the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum. Mark does an outstanding job growing Adeniums:

And then there are the BOOKS (descriptions and prices are from Rainbow Gardens Bookshop, http://www.rainbowgardensbookshop.com/):

Rowley, Gordon, Caudiciform & Pachycaul Succulents: The ONLY book solely on caudiciform succulents to ever be published! Author uses copious amounts of illustrations to counter a lack of popular names and easy terminology. The cultivation chapter explains aspects of growing and propagation. The plantsman in search of novelty and adventure will find rewarding subjects here. 400 magnificent color photos! 282 pages, 10" x 10", hardbound with color dustjacket$94.95

De Vosjoli, Phillippe, Pachyforms: A Guide to Growing Pachycaul and Caudiciform Plants: For the first time in 16 years there is finally another book on caudiciform and pachycaul plants! This extensively illustrated book (389+ color photos) focuses on how to grow members of this increasingly popular group of plants, which the author describes as "self-transforming objects". The author also describes the book as "A Photographic Catalog of Pachyforms" (up next from the author: another book on 'Bonsai Succulents'--due out in early 2005). Over 135 species of caudex-type and pachycaul plants are presented in "Pachyforms", with photos of these unique plants in all ages, sizes, shapes and forms. Almost 400 color photos, 319 pages. 7" x 10", softbound. Production quantity was limited on its initial print run, so it's best to obtain your book now before it's too late.$39.95

Only Amazon.com has these books for less than what Rainbow Gardens charges:

Jeri

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 4a)

You're all a bunch of teasers...lol!! It's hard for me to get alot of these because most sellers don't ship to Canada.
:p Donna

Central, LA(Zone 8b)

Donna

If we find some here in the states can we ship to Canada? I'd love to help enable somebody.!!!!

Jeri

West Orange, NJ(Zone 6a)

Donna,
Some sellers sell seeds and those seem to be less problem shipping to Canada. Some vendors can ship to Canada too, you'll have to check their websites out. The vendor selling the adeniums on the other thread about adeniums-ko (he sells on eBay) is based in Taiwan so he ships everywhere, and sells seeds.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 4a)

Thanks, Jeri and Beverly.

Sequim, WA(Zone 8a)

Marilyn - just had to order those two books! Amazon had a great deal on both of them, so I should be getting them here soon! Long live the enabler!
So, now I need you to send me that list of all the websites you promised! For info, for ordering! LOL I am going full speed ahead with "Fat plants" (or "fat boys" as DH calls them!) I am making room for all the "newcomers", I have the bonsai pots ready and off I go!

SF Bay Area, CA(Zone 9b)

I took a look at Amazon's prices. Congratulations!!!! Great deals, especially when you consider that you get free shipping! Make yourself a note - de Vosjoli is supposed to have a second volume on pachycauls out in the near future. It should have been here months ago.

Marilyn

Sequim, WA(Zone 8a)

Excellent, and I might talk DH into a Valentines Present of the Succulent and Xerophytic Plants of Madagascar, Vol. 1 & 2
by Werner Rauh - they look phenomenal!
I am also searching for "The new cactus lexicon" by Hunt - not available at the moment

Poor DH had been looking at books about C&S, gardening etc for Christmas presents - poor guy! He told me yesterday he got so confused he started looking at perfumes instead :-)

SF Bay Area, CA(Zone 9b)

Best price for Werner Rauh's "Succulent and Xerophytic Plants of Madagascar," Vols. 1& 2, is through the publisher, Strawberry Press. Right now they're on sale for $150 for both volumes plus $13 shipping. An awesome price! Here's the contact info:

Strawberry Press
227 Strawberry Drive
Mill Valley, CA 94941
415-388-5017
fax: 415-380-9628

You might want to ask Dr. Schwartz for a catalogue of all of his current offerings and his special sales.

The New Cactus Lexicon should be available exclusively from Rainbow Gardens - http://www.rainbowgardensbookshop.com/ Call/email them and ask. If they still don't have it, email one of the authors, David Hunt, through his website http://www.cactuslexicon.org/ Tell him Rainbow doesn't have it yet, and ask him how you can order one. This book is VERY spendy, almost $200.00. I presubscribed a couple of years ago and got it for $150. I received my copy in August, so it should be available for general purchase by now.

Hope this helps.

Oh my is all I can say! :-)

SF Bay Area, CA(Zone 9b)

HEHEHEHEHEHE!!!!

Bec - AWESOME WEBSITE!! Don't know the person who set it up, but know a couple of the registered users. Jerry is Jerry Wright of Great Petaluma Desert. GreenLarry is a member of DG, GardenWeb and a couple of other sites. Wish the registered users would add more plants/comments, etc., more often.

scio, oregon, OR(Zone 8a)

You are all so BAD, while checking out these websites I HAD to buy two more!

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

I have found my site for adenium seeds in other colors...particularly white, red and solid hot pink...address is www.adeniumseeds.com/ The site is out of Taiwan... am trying to order.

SF Bay Area, CA(Zone 9b)

Thanks for the awesome resource! I'm particularly interested in what the shipping cost is for their $100 minimum order.

Marilyn

Sequim, WA(Zone 8a)

Update - I just received the Rawley one, and I am positively drooling! The book is beautiful! Now I need to save my $$ for vol 1 & 2

SF Bay Area, CA(Zone 9b)

It's awesome, isn't it? And it retains its value too. I think I paid $60 for it when it first came out, and now it's $85, 20 years later!

Marilyn

Copenhagen, Denmark(Zone 7b)

Bettygail, I can highly recommend Adeniumseeds.com. I have ordered seeds (A. somalense and A. arabicum "Yak saudi") from Kesorn three-four times and the germination rate was 90-100%. And thumbs up for the delivery time: the seeds arrived in Denmark after 5-7 days. :-)

Best regards,

Martin
