Eastern Black Swallowtail (Papilio polyxenes)
Ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww
Mark,
They are actually very handsome looking cats when they are in their last instar. I love them and the Monarch cats as well! You learn to see the beauty in nature even in caterpillars when you raise and release them! :-)
You raise them??????????????????? wow..........
I didnt know that!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh believe me i do see the beauty in nature.................... i always have done!!!!!!!
Thanks for your images. My wife and I have photo'd several of these butterflies in the past. This year we gave them more food plants. I have tried to photo these very cats with minimal success. Thanks for helping me identify them and see them more clearly.
