Datura resilience

Lubbock, TX(Zone 7a)

Daturas are tough plants that can take a lot of abuse. In June these plants were stripped of leaves by 19 hungry goats. Chewed on them for approx. 5 hours and left only stems sticking up. This picture was taken in August, about 8 weeks later. Even tho the datura is a noxious plant, the goats showed no ill effects from their meal.

Wow! Looks like the pruning did some good. Why were the goats so hungry. I would have thought this would make them ill...

podster, with a drought year and very few plants growing, I guess the goats were tired of dry hay and were hungry for some green "salad". Most years they turn up their respective noses at the datura plants.
