Tropical Storm-Hurricane Issac

St. John's, NL(Zone 5b)

Well we were skirted by Florence and at least one place in Newfoundland had 160 km (100 mph) winds which destroyed a house. Now it looks like a direct hit by Issac. Two hurricanes in one season is very rare for Newfoundland...looks like the US is being spared at our expense! Oh well, at least most of the flowers are finishing now.

Hi,

It will be a close call http://cimss.ssec.wisc.edu/tropic/real-time/atlantic/winds/wg8wvir.html The very high ket stream is/has been protecting the USA the last 1,2 months. I think You might just be ok. Take care

Todd, I just saw this. Did you fare all right?

It fizzled! The forecast was for 110 km (65 mph) winds but we didn't exceed 50 km (30 mph). Whew! We escaped another one!

(Zone 5a)

Glad to hear that Todd - I noticed a nasty depression down there by Newfoundland on the weather map last night - didn't know it was a tropical storm.
