Planting Site for Hydrangeas

Mansfield, TX(Zone 8a)

A friend gave me two hydranges (Endless Summer and Toady [?]). I live in 7b/8a zone. My house faces the east. I love hydrangeas but have never had them. What would be the best direction to plan them in?

Dublin, CA(Zone 9a)

Assuming you're in a part of TX that suffers from miserable heat in the summer (are there any parts that don't?), I would plant them somewhere that they will get some morning sun, but be shaded in the heat of the day. When/how much sun they get is probably more important than the direction they face, but given equivalent partly shady conditions in several parts of your yard or if you don't have many trees to provide shade, I would plant them on either the north or east side rather than south or west. Hope that makes sense!
