hydrangea cuttings from new bush

Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

The lawn mower recently hit one of our hygdrangea bushes, a new plant that I put in mid-summer. I put the stems in a vase with water and they seem to be doing alright. Is there any way to get them to root?

Hi,
There's a great set of instructions on the Nantucket Hydrangea website. I've followed it as a total novice and got all my cuttings to root. Google for it. You may have to root inside now because it'll pour later this week (I'm near NYC in NJ) and get chilly; roots need to be warmish to sprout from leaf nodes. I misted daily instead of making a humidty tent; think it's safer that way to avoid fungus. And I really recommend Dip n Grow as a rooting hormone.
Any other advice, give a holler.

Thanks, Beverly. I found the website and have gathered everything I need. I'll give it a try today!

Good luck, you'll see it's not hard. Keep them in part sun and in about 2 weeks you'll feel resistance.
