oh wow, we have a bonsai forum!
I don't grow any, so I never knew....
I was at the National Arboretum in Washington, DC yesterday, and took a slew of photos of part of their bonsai collection. I even took pics of the tags and have labeled the pics ;-)
So I thought that folks might be interested. Plant names and years of training are under the photos (if the bonsai was labeled). I was shocked by how old some of the bonsai in the Japanese collection are.

Keyring,
Thanks for the link. I watched the slide show and I only wish they would have named each tree and the age of each tree. If you like challenges get into bonsais'. It is not hard, just different thinking and imagination. Kind of like playing chess, you have to think of a few moves ahead and hope for the best outcome.
As I said, I (not "they") labeled each photo with the name of the tree and the length of training(not actual age). In the slide show, you can click on any photo for the info, or you can manually click through the entire set starting with the first photo http://www.flickr.com/photos/ki/244984587/in/set-72157594287098867/
