Fall annuals for Charleston area (zone 8b)?

Summerville, SC

Just returned from being away all summer - the impatiens survived, but is very leggy. I'm looking for a nice replacement for part shade that I can plant now and get some color.

I plant pansies in the front (sunny) later in the fall. Is there anything I can put in to get some color between now and then?

Glad to be home,

Cathy

Cathy, I usually just cut my impatiens back and they pop right back and bloom as heavy as ever right until Christmas. I've given up on winter annuals so I don't have any other ideas, sorry.

Piedmont, SC(Zone 7b)

Have you tried marigolds and mums, I have some mariglod seeds.
