fern show

Acton, CA(Zone 8b)

Don't know if any one who visits this forum is from Southern California, but there is the annual fern show at the LA arboretum this weekend- great place to see/ buy new and cool ferns.

Bartlesville, OK(Zone 6a)

Well, that would be fun.

They never have anything like that around here. :(

Bob,
Please post pictures of the fern show if you took any. I'm in Texas and wish that we had one here.

here's some photos from this show, which was less spectacular than most, and maybe a few from previous shows

Here's Cibotium glauca from a previous year (none this year)

Dicksonia squarrosa.. they had a lot of seedlings for sale from this plant- that was worth going to the show just for that.

As usual, they had a lot of platyceriums... this was just a tiny fraction of them. The big one is a form of Platycerium hillii

Thanks so very much for giving us a glimpse into a fern showing!!!!!! Just wish I could have been there in person.

Perhaps, a bigger wish, would be for the fern names to be more compatible with a 'down south' female mind!!!! I'll probably go to my grave still calling them 'pretty' or 'unusual' or 'gotta' have this one' ferns.

Gotta buy a good fern book, soon!
