Stephanotis

Jetmore, KS

Hello,
I moved to SW Kansas from San Diego this past April. I have a lot to learn about gardening with wind, frost and grasshoppers. I brought a few pet plants with me, among them is a stephanotis I have raised from seeds. It is about 4 years old, is living in a rectangular pot with trellis on my front poarch. It is very happy at the moment, in fact has just started it's first blooms ever, but, I am worried about the winter months. I would love to plant it in the ground outside. Does anyone out there have any suggestions about how I should (or should not) do this?
I appreciate any help I can get.

I would not plant it outside, It is not hardy here, You might consider putting it in a really big pot and move indoors for the winter months. Put it near a window so it gets some sunlight and also get some flourescent grow lights that are meant for plants to ensure that it gets adequate light. It may look a little straggly by the end of the winter but it will be alive. :)
