I planted some gaillardia aristata last year which produced some beautiful blooms. This year, the leaves look great and have been growing well, but no blooms or even hints of buds.
Any suggestions?

blanket flower not bloominghelp!!
No suggestions, but I can't wait for a reply from someone who can help. I am having the same problem. I am also zone 5.
I've found that gaillardia aristata acts as an annual if started early or a biennial if started later in the summer. I'm wondering if your original plants may have died over the winter.... but re-seeded. The ones you have now could be seedlings from the parent plants that won't bloom until next year.
Poppysue I was thinking the same thing. Mike
I have some old ones that bloomed great. I purchased 2 at home depot this year and they are just sitting there. One bloom off both plants. I guess they sold me some seedlings. LOL Jim
