Has anyone had luck with propagating clematis? If so, what did you do? Thanks much.

Ree, here's another thread on the subject.

I haven't personally tried to propagate them, but I know others here have, so I'm sure you'll get some good advice and tips.

easy peasy lemon squeezy!! LOL

just being a bit childish but

take an internodal cutting of growth that is just starting to harden but is still green. an interndal cut is done between halfway between two sets of leaves along them stem.

you should have in your hand a long piece od stem with a set of leaves in the middle. trim the upper section just above the leaves and trim so there is only one leaf left. dip the lower end in hormone powder. make a hole in free draining compost with a pencil and stick in your cutting so the stem is under the compost and the bud is on the surface. water in and place a clear plastic bag over the pot. rooting should be within 8 weeks.

take lots of cuttings at the same time from one length of stem.
