I bought this neat looking window box and trellis. I put it on the railing of my deck and it looks almost exactly like the picture, except I can't seem to get any type of flowering vine to grow up this. I think I'm having trouble because of the confinement of the window box. Most vines are just too big to be happy in a 31" space. Any ideas? I'd really appreciate it.

Window box vine
Consider planting a Clematis in the ground BEHIND the flower box. Next year it will have grown enough to cover your trellis and look stunning! For this year, go to Hobby Lobby and buy a garland of small-leafed greenery and wrap your trellis.
Thank you, I never thought of that. I was trying to get a smaller vine to grow in the window box and up the trellis. I didn't realize clematis grew tall enough to reach from the ground to the deck.
A thought for a smaller vine would be the Clitorias. They tend to stay very manageable - I grow mine in 6" and 8" pots - and have beautiful flowers.
Good luck!
