Not a single female flower

Painesville, OH(Zone 5b)

I have 2 pumpkin plants that haven't put out a single female flower. Lots of males, but no females (and thus, no pumpkins) What's up with that? Tamara

I have a few this year (my first pumpkins) and mine didn't have female flowers until the vines were 4 feet long. Are yours that long yet?

Painesville, OH(Zone 5b)

No, they are small still. I'm sure that's why. :-) Thanks! Tamara

I'm having the same problem with my winter squash. Nice to know there's still hope!

Pardon my ignorance.... I have never grown vegi's before, but this year I planted pumpkins. I thought it would be fun for my kids. How do you tell male from female flowers?

Female blossoms have little pumpkins behind them, the males just a straight stem.

Thank you. You'd think I would have known before I planted, LOL. Have 18 plants, 6 different varieties. Looking forward to a fun Halloween!
