What in the world would eat the buds on my purple cone flower? It looks like they have been cut right off below the buds! does anyone have a clue? And will they bud again? I hope soooo. I've been waiting all this time for the blooms. UGHHH
What?!
We were having this trouble a little earlier in the year and it turned out to be grasshoppers. They were chewing the stems below the buds of several species of flowers that were growing in the same row. As to whether the coneflowers will come back or not, I don't know. Maybe some of the better gardeners here can help out with that and tell you if there is something you can do to promote it.
