Finally blooming for me
Goodyera pubescens
My six-year olds are blooming too. Most of mine are five. Good photo. Eventually they are suppposed to have 80 flowers per stalk.
What are the ferns?
Larry
That's Japanese Painted Fern. I actually had to pull it off the Goodyera. The Goodyera gets essentially zero sun and lots of water. That must be the correct combo for it!
The wild Goodyera are usually in dense woods near ferns. I have a few in full sun for a few days. So far it doesn't seem to bother them. I have 100 so I can afford to experiment.
Did you grow those from seed or???
No, that takes a lot of talent. I do have the impossible Wintergreens (Pyrola and Chimaphila). Their fungal requirements are understood. Orchid seeds and juveniles require fungi, but they can change their preference. I have some young ones off of Ebay. I am not sure if they will last. The identification is suspect, too. I am going to stick to 5 and up.
Beautiful plant Kevin. Good job!
