update on canna leaf rollers

mid central, FL(Zone 9a)

since this is my first year for a lot of cannas in the ground, i had never experienced the canna leaf rollers. up until a week ago, every leaf was perfect. i had been keeping a close eye out for them, esp. watching for the symmetrical holes across the leaf which i now find out is caused by the yellow wooly-bear caterpillar and not the leaf roller. anyway, they finally appeared a week ago. i saw ragged, chewed chunks out of a few leaves. i assumed it to be the broad-winged green katydids, because they do that kind of damage also. as i was inspecting the leaves for those guys, whoa! jump back and scream! nobody told me how big these rollers get! yikes!!! anyway, an application of BT (thuricide) stopped them dead in their tracks. i plan on doing the BT every 10 days until summer is over. just wanted to let everyone know that, as i suggested in some previous threads, the BT works and is very cost effective and safe to other creatures. debi
