I have Romano Pole Beans in the garden growing on 5' fence. Still getting 2 to 3 foot runners beyond the height of the fence. Foilage looks great.
Here is my problem. Very few blooms. Maturity date is about 1 week out and I am seeing limited blooms and small beans.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Phil
Beans Not Blooming
Patience. It is possible that your N to P ratio is high which will encourage vines and delay flowering but they should come around ok. Maturity date is just a guideline, it can be off by a considerable margin, depending on many factors, including weather, climate, nutrients etc. If they fail to produce as expected this year, use a higher phosphate nutrient next year.
Thanks Farmerdill for the info.
Phil
