We have recently purchased and planted cardinal flowers, which I thought were supposed to be red. However, this week, they started sporting small, royal purple blooms near the top of the stalks.
Is this normal, or do I have a purple, instead of red flower?

LOL - Talked to the nursery--turns out they mismarked the whole lot--they are the blue variety, not the red. They are going to give us free ones without having to turn in the "wrong ones".
