I have a large garden border of Siberians. After blooming the stalks distract and obstruct the rest of our floweing garden. How soon can I cut the foliage back. Have similar problem with bearded iris also in another garden section. I am in NE North Carolina and these plants bloom in April-May.
Siberian Iris
You can cut off the spent bloomstalks any time, but it is not advisable to cut back healthy, green foliage at all. The plant needs its foliage to feed itself for next year's bloom.
