I am new to vines really, I have grown MG the last 2 years and have since bought a couple Clematis this year and I have been watching this strange vine growing by my pond for a few weeks now and yesterday I noticed it had a bunch of little buds on it and started looking at different vines to see if I could tell what it was and from the looks of the leaves I know now it is some kind of a passion vine and do not have a clue where it came from. This morning I went out to look at it and it had a big bud about to open so I figured in a few days I would know but within a few hours it opened and is some kind of purple passion flower. I am wanting to move this onto my trellis or put it in a pot so I can save it for next year and wondered if it would survive in my GH..Any help I would really appreciate..
Thanks,
Vickie
Not a clue...
the one i had in a pot came back this year. i stored it in my garage.
make sure if you do dig it up you dig big enough around it to get alot of the roots. i wish i knew more to help you with it.
Here is the whole plant..
Hi Vickie--
pretty bloom... I noticed you're from Cookeville... I had an interview in Cookeville about 9 years ago at y'all's hospital there... what a BEAUTIFUL drive from Nashville... back then I never ventured far from Texas... but my interview was in late May and it was about 85 degrees here (I'm near Houston)... and when I arrived at the Nashville airport the attendent at the gate said it was 56 degrees out...brrrrr... HA!! ... I had accused her of having the A/C on too cold on the jetway... she just laughed at my reaction to the outside temp... I was INSTANTLY in love with Tennessee....
Thanks, I was glad the birds brought me something so pretty this time instead of some weed..I know what your saying, that is what I love most about living here..I lived in Houston for 18 yrs and my kids still live in Beaumont and Houston. Our temps. here seem to be getting hotter each year it has been close to 90 lately but I love the winters and almost talked my daughter into moving here after the hurricanes last year but she changed her mind and said she could not handle the snow so she went back..
I use to spend alto of time in Baytown many many years ago when my ex was working in the plants and my son drives a truck and goes through there quite often..
WOW... small world huh? My Dad has worked in these refineries here my whole life... he's been retired for about 12 years... but he will NOT leave.... I guess it's the "oil town" thing... ooooh, those hurricanes... last year was the first time EVER that we evacuated.... silly as it was... all that New Orleans hype got everyone scared here and next thing you know ..we were on the road... Baytown faired well, but, as I'm sure you know, Beaumont was a different story... how did your children in Beaumont do??

Yes I have found on here it is a very small world but my daughter was to be moving the weekend it hit so instead they were evacuating which took forever for them to get to higher ground and ran out of gas as so many others but over all her house and apt. was not really harmed but their business was totally damaged, which her late husband had started 20 yrs or so ago and they are still looking for a new location, but I can say I have been though my share living in Galveston and Houston and it not a fun thing to go through.
One thing I missed was seeing the bluebonnets so I planted some seeds just to see if I could get them to bloom and it was so nice to see a little piece of home here, next year I want to add some Indian blanket seeds in and see what happens...
