This guy is on my Goldfingers and Coreopsis. I think he is just getting pollen???
Good guy or Bad?
I've been watching him, don't seem to be doing damage to the plants.
Anyone know what he is? The closest I seen in my book is Milkweed or a Stain beetle. (???)
Thanks for any help!
ID Bug for Jen #1
looks like a box elder to me.
Connie
cegoins: I seen that in my book (the box elder) but it looked a little different than this guy.
You may be right.
I know he has good sight, he sees me and tries to hide!!
Took me forever to get a good photo of one of them
My guess would be a milkweed bug - probably a small (Eastern) milkweed bug, Lygaeus kalmii. Take a look at this picture... http://bugguide.net/node/view/8942/bgpage .
It looks an awful lot like your bug.
Thank you Night Bloom. Yeah that is him FOR SURE!!
Thanks for taking the time to look.
