Rainier cherries any reason not to freeze or jam them?

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

We lucked into some Rainier cherries today for $1.19 per pound (the supplier sent them in error, but they were selling them at the sale price for Bings). I know there are some apple varieties that are only good for fresh eating and not so great for cooking... but is that true for different kinds of cherries?

Since I just went back to the store and bought 15 pounds, I am sure hoping that they can be frozen successfully! Alternately, I could make jam from them.... And if y'all tell me they are terrible for any use other than fresh, well, I'll have some happy friends & neighbors!

BTW, apologies for the cross posting, but I wasn't getting any response to this over in the fruit tree forum...

Thanks!
