Seed Pods on Rebloomer!

I would love to try my hand at growing iris from seed. Ill harvest them when the pods become brown. Can anyone give me pointers on starting iris from seed? Doesnt matter to me if they dont look or act like the parent plant (ie, reblooming or color), I just want to see if i can do this.
Do the seeds need a cold spell? When is it recommended to start the germination process?

I found some info on growing seeds that I mentioned briefly in the thread "Big Seed Pod on Iris". If you need more explicit info I will look it up for you in the book I have.
