It is in a mostly sunny spot. Should I move it to the shade? Move it but wait until fall? It definitely seems happier in the shade of whatever it is next to and sort of under

Yes, that is ajuga, which one I'm not sure. It will grow in sun or shade. But probably happier in part shade. If you move it now keep it watered. It will spread like crazy, but I love it when it blooms.
