I grew Exochorda 'The Bride' from seed and all of my seedlings have bare, leafless bottoms. Are they ugly for life or how I can fix them?
Bare bottoms
We have only two exochorda species here, and both like to be leggy. We let them be what they want to be and treat them as miniature trees. But you could cut them back and renew them if you wish. Do it by taking out about 1/3 - 1/2 of the stems back to the base each year.
