A walk through my woods

Winchester, KY(Zone 6a)

I've been enjoying trecking down the creek to see what's growing in the shady woods there and thought I'd share some pics.

See the big, fern covered rock behind the tree?

Looks like you live in a rain forest. How lovely.

It feels like a Kentucky rain forest indeed.

The exposed roots of this tree are very cool looking.

See the tall spike of the Black cohosh that's soon to open?

This rock ledge makes a great bench when I'm ready for a rest.

And that's all. Hope you enjoy!

Neal - I'm particularly fond of wet places. And yours is beautiful. Thanks for sharing it.

Thanks doss! This is such a great place to garden; the temp is usually 5-10degrees lower than in town during the summer. I love hiking in the woods, but always get so bummed when walking through national park areas and always find dirty diapers and beer cans. None of that here (anymore, that is). This environment is what inspired me to switch to all organic in the garden; it's too pristine to risk messing it up.

Do you have photos of your gardens? How great that you've discovered an interest in organic gardening. Is this your property or adjoining property.

This is part of my acreage, which is mostly wooded. This Giant Jack in the Pulpit is in my shade garden where I keep finding more of them every year. They were already there and the garden went in around them. It seems like cultivating the area is making them reseed more than usual.

Big Jack here is almost 4' tall!

Beautiful!

Have you thought of using the DG garden diary? It's really great and gives you a lot of flexibility. For instance, you can rearrange photos by using the date feature and you can divide your garden into sections and still have them in the same link.

Here's the link to my diary.
