Dwarf Conifers

Covington, KY(Zone 6a)

I love these little dwarf conifers. They require a lot of water because of the small space they're in.

they're wonderful. like bonsai but without the fussiness

This spring I bought a very small Hinoki Meroke Twin False Cypress.

I plan on making it a "pseudo" bonsai tree. I would love to get several Hinoki together and make a miniture forest scene with them.

You might look for some Hinokis to add to your collection, too.

Good golly Ms Molly,

Looks like the start of a bonsai collection. I miss conifers, just to warm for them here. All we have is those darn tropicals...

Do you know the name of the one on the right? I am looking for one like that. Do you have to trim it to maintain the shape? About how tall is it now and how tall will it get? Too many plants ~ not enough time.... thx pod

Molly, what do you do with them in the Winter?

I forget what the actual botanical names are.....I bought them at AJ Rahn in Cincinnati. It's a retail greenhouse where I work seasonally doing all the large containers. I don't know if they'll do to well in tropical areas. In the winter, I'll bring them in with all my other little jewels that I don't want exposed to the elements.
I hope I've answered all the questions.
