Do you work in the wet stuff?

Jonesboro, GA(Zone 7b)

I recall reading that you shouldn't disturb the soil until the surface is dry, due to fungi, molds, etc. I'm always so tempted to weed while the weeding's good, and this morning I even transplanted a lavender plant to a sunnier area. So, what's your experience? Do you wait for everything to dry out, or go for it--have you had bad effects? Sheila

It's an excellent way to weed if pulling up deep rooted ones (especially violets - I've used a hose to soak violets so they pop out easier). Transplanting is great since it is cooler and the ground is moist - I usually still water in transplants though for insurance.

The only time to weed for me! Dang bindweed!

I had to "dig' my holes yesterday morning with the hose just to break through the dry clay! Then after planting my new daylilies I recieved in the mail, filling the holes with water again!
Weeding on the other hand is a different story! I like it to be dry so that the weeds actually start shrivelling as soon as you hoe or pull!
