Canning & Ceramic Cooktops

Wewoka, OK(Zone 7a)

I have canned off and on for all of my adult life but always on a gas cook stove. We moved out of town last year and the house we bought has a ceramic cooktop. I understand why canning on it is not a good idea - too much heat held on top of the cooktop for a prolonged period of time. Does anyone have a suggestion short of replacing my cooktop?? I have considered using a propane two-burner hotplate - it is old (cast iron with two large burners); only problem - I would have to set it up out in the garage and I concerned that the heat in the garage would make it harder to keep the temp stablized. Any suggestions or comments???
