I have broccoli in my raised bed, and the plants and leaves are huge, I think at least 2'x3', yet there is not yet any broccoli heads, only the leaves. These plants are shading and crowding everything else in the bed. I actually moved several of them out of the bed, and into some of my straw bales.
Here's where I am very confused - this is my first time growing broccoli. I ordered the seeds from Pinetree seeds, and this is the type I ordered:
Small Miracle
BR089
(F1) 56 days. This is just the variety for small gardens. Compact 12 inch tall plants let you grow more food in less space. Small Miracle produces a tidy domed head. Developed with the square foot gardener in mind, it can be planted as close as 8 inches apart. The finely beaded and very dark green 6-8 inch heads boast exceptionally mild flavor. Under good culture, Small Miracle can be planted in pots. Side shoot production is minimal.
This doesn't seem like what I have, I dunno.
Broccoli taking over the garden...
