Somehow one of my ponds started leaking
Instead of ripping it apart and investing in a new liner ....
Well,I live on a lake and there is this stuff that washes up on the shorelines at times
Its hard to describe what it is
its almost like swamp muck
The neighbor whose shoreline was lucky enough to get all this stuff is now waist deep in it for about 20 feet out,we've been harvesting it with a back hoe
I put a trailer load in my leaking pond
I used a pitchfork on the liner before I filled it
This stuff is
sand
peat
decomposed wood
algae(mostly string algae)
probably lake plants
Its black and beautiful
its the same texture as peat
I use it to mulch my plants
BUT
Is it too rich to use for a true bog garden ?
I have the plants I bought from Phil
(which by the way are magnificent,Venus flytrap is blooming
BIG pitchers on the others)
Is it safe to put them in this stuff?
If so ,should I un pot them?
or leave them in their pots?
I can take a picture of it tomorrow......
By the way
The pond is / was 2 1/2 feet deep and 10 foot across

Yes, it is far too rich to use for carnivorous plants. No need to take a photo, I know what you've got there.
Hmmm, nice idea to turn that old pond into a bog! Way to go!
