Is there anyone else out there in Florida who does hsade gardening?
I have a butterfly garden in the shade, with gingers among other things. I am actually on the cusps of 8b and 9a.
We can't grow a lot of the things the rest of you are growing farther up north.
Instead og hosta I grow kaempferias and boesenbergias, as well as other gingers.

Liz, I think that you might have better luck over on the Florida forum. There is also a 'Tropicals forum'.
I do grow shade plants in my zone 9 garden but no ginger. I didn't know that you could grow it in the shade!
