Lambs' quarters OK for chickens?

Shenandoah Valley, VA(Zone 6b)

I'm assuming so as they're fine for us to eat, but I wanted to make sure that they're safe for chickens too. We have a HUGE patch and I'd like to give them to the hens.

What is lamb's quarters? When I first saw the title, I thought you meant the cut of meat. I'm guessing you mean a plant? I didn't find it in the plantfiles.
The only thing I know of that I don't feed the chickens is onions. They'll pick and choose what they like aside from that in my experience.

Yes, they are fine for poultry and livestock. I cut them up finely for babies I hand raise.

Thanks, leaflady. What a gift to have so much of this at the ready for the hens.

Renwings, here's a pic of it. I believe it's chenopodium album, in PlantFiles as "Lamb's Quarter" http://davesgarden.com/pf/go/51560/index.html

and here's an impressive group of charts of lambs quarters nutritional content. Wow. http://members.tripod.com/TOADHILL/lambsquarter.htm

We eat them mixed with spinach, pokeweed, dandelion, plantian, etc. Use the smaller plants or just clip the tops off larger plants. As you found, they are packed with nutrients.
