I inherited two wonderful Japanese maples when I purchased my house. They are planted close to each other, so when in leaf they look like one mass. I am going to widen the bed on the left so I don't hit the branches when mowing the lawn. Should I trim up the branches so that they do not touch the ground? Or would that just be a personal preference.
Also, any idea what cultivar these might be?
