Anyone versed in potable springs?

Don't yet know how potable the spring is at our new place... water quality testing will come immediately after closing. I know it once fed the house.

I searched all over this morning on cleaning out a spring (and spring house), new enclosure, etc. and found nothing. Any help/advice appreciated!
