Wet Feet Annuals.....

Emmaus, PA(Zone 6a)

Are there any annuals that enjoy wet/boggy soils? I have impatiens, and coleus in water, doing very well in full sun.
I was wondering, if there were any more that would do well either in water or in a boggy area.

Summer Poinsettia aka Joseph's Coat, Amaranthus tricolor , grows for me in boggy soil as long as it gets plenty of sun. It's a tall foliage plant that can be used as a back border or as a specimen, and they always get attention when people spot them. There are a lot of cultivars available, but I'm not sure if many nurseries carry them in flats. I grow my annuals from seed, so I'm not sure what's out there right now.

I have maybe 5 or 10 extra seedlings sitting in the greenhouse left from this year's batch of Amaranthus if you'd like to try them. I don't know how they'd do in the mail, and these are getting a little weary of being in flats, but they are pretty tough as seedlings go.

They are this cultivar: http://davesgarden.com/pf/go/98345/index.html

If you don't care for this cultivar or would rather try to track some down, I won't be offended at all, but if you'd like some, they're yours.

Hi,
Provided its not too hot in summer, mimulus (monkeyflower) would be a good annual plant for a boggy situation.
