To you experts on pest control..preferably organic...I need help!!! I recently left for a 7 day vacation and returned this evening to find 8eight!! of my prized TBI's munched down to the flowering stalk by an iridescent blue/green beetle approximately 1/4 inch long.. It particularly likes the flesh on the falls. I watched one devour one side of the falls in a few minutes!! I possibly unknowingly imported them with cedar mulch I applied prior to my departure. I am wary of foliar treatments including Malathion..it burned my roses even when diluted...I have sprayed them this evening with water but I know they will be back in the morning...PLEASE ADVISE!!!,,, Thank-you in advance Refugio..

Neil...any thoughts on how to treat?
Sorry, but I don't know. My mother picks them off into a jar of vegetable oil. I don't have much of a problem with them.
Sorry,
Neil
Japanese beetles are a notorious pest in the Midwest. I have been able to control them organically by squashing them on the plant and leaving the corpses where I squashed them. I know it looks crummy but when the next beetles come along looking for a place to have an orgy they see the corpse and move on. LOL I used to pick them off into a jar of soapy water and that killed them but didn't discourage the next wave of beetles at all. Leaving the corpses works great. My neighbors have lots (as in hundreds) of Japanese beetles every year and I get less than 10.
Thank-you No...I ended up picking them off and squashing them..I took out my rage on those poor bugs!!! I have not seen new ones yet..I think they got the message..Thanks!
