What a Shock - Water Heater Problem

I just went out into the garage and was shocked to find the water heater has dripped water everywhere. So guess, I will be calling the plumber tomorrow. I tried to find a place to turn the water off and could not find one. Any suggestions? Also, any recommendations on type of water heater to purchase?
